Like all new parents, my wife and I couldn't wait for the arrival of our first baby. We wanted everything to be perfect-from floor to ceiling-and couldn't wait to start decorating his nursery. We had tons of different ideas on how we could make the empty room into a cute, unique space that would be all about our precious little bundle of joy. We started searching everywhere for the perfect nursery wall decals to start transforming our baby's bedroom into a fun and functioning area.

It turned out finding wall decals that were not only pleasing to the eye, but easy to assemble, were far more difficult-and frustrating - to find than either one of us could ever imagine.

When we finally decided on a jungle theme for the room, my wife and I eagerly ran to the mail box each day to see if our wall decal set had arrived. When it finally did, we couldn't believe how many complex pieces there were and how involved everything was. It was like figuring out a giant puzzle for your wall. We would take turns standing back to see if different pieces matched up just right and spent the entire afternoon rearranging, re-applying, and re-thinking our decision.

Finally after three hours of piecing everything together and putting up with the horrible odor (the materials stunk from the vinyl and smelled toxic), we were done. We were proud of our handy work and even more excited that we wouldn't have to go through the entire process again.

Unfortunately, our excitement was short lived when, only a few months later, the pieces started to shrink and create giant gaps between each section.

It was the final straw and it was then that my wife and I both looked at each other and said, "We can make these better on our own!"

The light bulb had gone off, the seed had been planted, and the idea for the site that would eventually become Sunny Decals was born.

When it comes with anything to do with your children, you want the very best - from the food they eat to the toys they play with to what hangs on their walls. As a team, my wife and I knew we could make better wall decals with better material that would be non-toxic, easy to apply, and would live up to our (apparently) high standards. We instantly got to work and hit the ground running.

Putting our brains together, the ideas started flowing. Wouldn't it be great to have a dinosaur wall decal? What about fun airplane wall decals? We'd sketch out concepts, play around with colors, and test different materials to see which ones held up and pasted our personal tests.

Starting Sunny Decals has been a blast and coming up with designs and concepts we know parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and the kids themselves will enjoy has been a wonderfully challenging experience.. Forget 16-piece sets of decals that are so complicated you need an instruction manual and a puzzle enthusiast to get them to fit just right, Sunny Decals are no-nonsense, no hassle affairs.
